- Ranger Aerospace, a leading acquirer in the ongoing consolidation of the aviation
services industry, announced today that its CEO and Founder, Steve Townes, has been
appointed to the Board of Governors of The Wings Club, in New York City. Formed in
1942 shortly before the U.S. entered World War II, this prestigious worldwide
organization has been a continual forum for the promotion and development of the
aviation industry. Association members consist of key figures in the airlines,
government, the military, aerospace manufacturing, general aviation, politics and
finance. Mr. Gordon Bethune, CEO of Continental Airlines, is the current President
of The Wings Club.
Townes, who is also President of Aircraft Service International Group and Chairman of
SkyTanking GmbH, remarked "I urge aviation entrepreneurs and aerospace leaders from
all over our industry to join The Wings Club. The Wings Club has a rich history in
aviation and provides the perfect venue for shaping and debating important issues in
the aviation industry today." Mr. Townes is a well-known senior executive and
entrepreneur in the aviation services industry, with experience in military aerospace,
commercial aeromod, FBO's, and airline services. He is an engineering graduate of West
Point.
